Data Sources

Aorista uses open and free-tier APIs to power its tools. Exchange rates come from ExchangeRate-API, updated daily from global forex markets. Weather data is powered by Open-Meteo, which aggregates data from national meteorological services including NOAA, ECMWF, and MeteoFrance. World clock times are calculated entirely in your browser using the built-in Intl.DateTimeFormat API — no external requests, DST-aware automatically. Voltage and plug data is compiled from IEC international standards and national electrical codes.

All data is provided for reference and travel planning purposes. For large financial transactions, always verify exchange rates with your bank or a licensed broker.

Origin
[ Where we're from ]

Aorista is built in Wellington, New Zealand — a city at the bottom of the world with a disproportionate connection to everywhere else. New Zealanders travel further than almost anyone, cross more timezones, and convert more currencies per capita than most nationalities. That perspective is baked into every tool we build.

The name Aorista comes from the Greek grammatical concept of the aorist — an action viewed as a complete whole, without reference to its duration. It felt right for a toolkit built around moments: the moment you check the rate, the moment you land, the moment you figure out what time it is back home.
